Why should I apply epoxy?

Due to concrete’s porous surface, moisture, debris and other harmful substances penetrate the pores causing damage to the underlying structural integrity of your concrete slab. Unprotected concrete surfaces will inevitably lead to surface cracks, undermining, and pitting that will only get worse over time.

Since the Maritimes are prone to humid weather conditions, in both summer and winter, it becomes even more important to ensure that you’re protecting your floor but more importantly protecting your investment.

Unprotected concrete surfaces will inevitably lead to surface cracks, undermining and pitting that will only get worse over time.
Strong Bond creates a strong seamless floor that seals the pores keeping the concrete surface clean and moisture free.

Is it easy to clean?

Yes, it is very easy to clean, much easier than exposed concrete. You can sweep, mop or squeegee your floor. To be as clean as new. We will give you some cleaning instructions.

Why does it take 2 days?

We need to allow proper time for each coat to cure properly before you apply another coat. It is also critical to ensure the exposed concrete is properly prepared before the base coat is applied or it may not “bond” and can fail.

Why not buy the Do It Yourself (DIY) Kit and save money?

While you will save money, most times these kits will fail, and you will be faced with peeling epoxy in your garage. The biggest factor in this is the preparation. The DIY kits will only acid wash your floor before installation and do not create the right bond for the epoxy, which often results in failure.

Is Epoxy slippery?

No, your epoxy floor will likely be less slippery than your smooth concrete. If you are concerned, we can add “anti-slip” in the top coat to provide extra traction. You will find in the days following the installation that normal foot traffic will create micro-abrasions in the top coat and provide you a very solid surface that is not slippery.

How long does the process take?

Normal residential garage applications can be completed in two days. You should allow another 2-4 days for proper curing before moving heavy objects and vehicles back on the floor.

Do you offer a warranty?

Of course! On residential jobs we are pleased to offer a limited adhesion warranty of 20 years on our Flake System and 10 years on our Solid System.

Why do you have to grind my floor before application?

We grind your concrete to prepare the floor to “accept” the epoxy. Think of it as the epoxy growing roots in the concrete. These roots cannot penetrate the smooth polished concrete, but once it is “roughed up” it creates the perfect surface for the epoxy to grow roots and establish a solid foundation.
